Scar Release Workshop

  • Bruce County Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Centre 5098 Ontario 21 Port Elgin, ON, N0H 2C5 Canada (map)

myoActivation® is a system of pain care that encompasses novel approaches to history taking, physical examination, non-pharmaceutical needling treatment, and aftercare.  An essential component to the myoActivation methodology is releasing the myofascial tension inherent in surgical or traumatic scars and remnants of soft tissue injury.

This workshop reviews the pathophysiology of scars, the mechanisms of tissue activation by cutting tip needles, patient assessment, treatment technique, patient responses to treatment, and aftercare.

Two presentation patients will be assessed and treated in real time to illustrate the changes in subjective pain and objective movement.

Through practice exercises in pairs, participants will experience the sensation of treatment and the changes in range of movement from release of scars as well as learn the techniques of scar release.

Pre-reading will entail 0.5 hours in preparation for the 2.5 instructional hours in the workshop.  There will be an instructor:participant ratio of 1:4 or 1:2 pairs in the practice exercises.

Instructors for this workshop will be Greg Siren MD CCFP FCFP and Andrew Jeffrey MD CCFP(EM).
