A Message From The Executive Director

It’s been an inspiring year of growth and collaboration within the myoActivation® community. Across our workshops, we’ve seen incredible engagement from clinicians who are eager to bring this approach to their patients and communities - and that enthusiasm continues to drive everything we do.

As we head into the final months of 2025, our focus remains on expanding access to training opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to build the internal foundation that supports AMF’s growth and impact. Behind the scenes, we’re ensuring our systems and structure are ready for the next phase of development, so we can continue meeting the needs of clinicians across BC and beyond.

I’m deeply grateful to every practitioner, instructor, and supporter who contributes to this shared mission - your commitment keeps this momentum alive. Thank you for being part of this community and for advancing compassionate, evidence-informed pain care.

Warmly,
Ginelle Smith

Just Published

Congratulations to principal investigator, Barb Eddy, NP, and co-author Dr. Gillian Lauder on the publication of their quantitative paper The Impact of a Novel Methodological Process for Needling Scars, Fascia, and Muscles in the Management of Myofascial Dysfunction and Chronic Pain in a Population Living With Social and Health Inequities: Quantitative Findings From a Longitudinal Observational Pilot Study in Pain Management and Research.

Discussion from the abstract:

This study suggests that myoActivation pain care can be an effective tool, with a lasting positive impact, to manage MFD and chronic pain in a population living with social and health inequities. Further studies are needed to examine the impact of myoActivation in the primary care setting.

Province Recognizes myoActivation® in Opioid-Free Pain Management Program

The BC Ministry of Health has announced continued funding for the Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan’s (CIRP) Opioid-Free Pain Clinics, supporting construction workers across the province with effective, non-pharmacological approaches to pain management — including myoActivation. This is a significant milestone for evidence-based, opioid-free care in British Columbia. After success at their Burnaby clinic, CIRP has now expanded to Langford! Clinics offer myoActivation therapy and counsellor-led self-management. We are proud to see myoActivation included in this provincial initiative, and we recognize the leadership and dedication of Barb Eddy, NP, an instructor with the AMF, who has played a key role in advancing this work over the past two years!

If you are looking for care, or more information, you may contact CIRP at (604) 521-8611 or info@constructionrehabplan.com

Thank You For Joining Us For Training

This year, we trained a total of 59 clinicians through our Level 1–4 myoActivation workshops. That included 21 new Level 1 graduates, who completed their introductory training. This year we had 16 clinicians who successfully completed Level 4, graduating over two advanced courses held in Surrey and Lake Cowichan. We’re grateful to all the participants across all levels who helped create a collaborative learning environment through open discussion, curiosity, and a willingness to engage fully in hands-on practice — including being needled!
